CURATION

Discover the curatorial text by Cristina Brambila, who brings a critical, poetic, and deeply sensitive perspective to this edition of TUM TUM, a virtual art festival celebrating the creative practices of women and dissidences from Latin America.

The virtual exhibition Encarnar el poder brings together the voices, gestures, and bodies of women and gender-diverse people from Latin America who, from the multiplicity of their territories and trajectories, explore how structures of power shape us, constrain us, and, at the same time, transform us. Through visual, sound, and video works, a sensitive map is woven—one that moves between intimate storytelling, political denunciation, and poetic reflection.

The body, a constant protagonist, emerges as a tool for expression, resistance, and metamorphosis: bodies that dance, narrate, dissolve, and reconstruct themselves in the search for identity and freedom. Each work is a form of embodiment—a gesture that reclaims lived experience and projects it toward new forms of existence.

As the second edition of the TUM TUM Festival, this exhibition not only questions power as a central theme, but also the possibilities that the virtual realm offers as an exhibition space. Far from replicating traditional formats, Encarnar el poder proposes an immersive experience where digital architecture and presences expand our imagination. In this mutable territory, virtuality becomes an ally for rehearsing other possible worlds, other ways of inhabiting, and of creating community.

This edition features 14 artists from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Peru, whose works explore the intimate, ritual, and symbolic dimensions of the digital. Step inside our immersive space and experience TUM TUM from within.
