CURATION
Discover the curatorial text by Cristina Brambila, who brings a critical, poetic, and deeply sensitive perspective to this edition of TUM TUM, a virtual art festival celebrating the creative practices of women and dissidences from Latin America.
In a world saturated by dominant technological narratives, this virtual exhibition brings together the voices of women and dissidences from diverse Latin American territories to question the very notion of power through digitally mediated practices. Far from viewing technology as a neutral or universal field, the works gathered here approach it as a space for symbolic, poetic, and political dispute. From radical tenderness to micropolitical gestures of re-existence, these pieces trace alternative paths for thinking about technology through the body, affection, and the memories rooted in our territories.
Some proposals engage with ancestral knowledge and Indigenous cosmologies, challenging the extractivist imaginaries often tied to technoscientific development. Others, through hybrid and experimental languages, question the hierarchies imposed by hegemonic systems of representation and control. Together, this journey not only highlights critical artistic practices in the field of new media but also proposes other ways of inhabiting the virtual: more situated, more affective, more ours.
This edition features 14 artists from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, whose works explore the intimate, ritual, and symbolic dimensions of the digital. Step inside our immersive space and experience TUM TUM from within.
